Kit's Cradle. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH FIFI JKJK

They've taken the cosy bed awayA
That I made myself with the Shetland shawlB
And set me a hamper of scratchy hayA
By that great black stove in the entrance hallB
-
I won't sleep there I'm resolved on thatC
They may think I will but they little knowD
There's a soft persistence about a catC
That even a little kitten can showD
-
I wish I knew what to do but poutE
And spit at the dogs and refuse my teaF
My fur's feeling rough and I rather doubtE
Whether stolen sausage agrees with meF
-
On the drawing room sofa they've closed the doorG
They've turned me out of the easy chairsH
I wonder it never struck me beforeG
That they make their beds for themselves up stairsH
-
-
-
I've found a crib where they won't find meF
Though they're crying Kitty all over the houseI
Hunt for the Slipper and riddle my reeF
A cat can keep as still as a mouseI
-
It's rather unwise perhaps to purrJ
But they'll never think of the wardrobe shelvesK
I'm happy in every hair of my furJ
They may keep the hamper and hay themselvesK
