Flying down the road like a diving eagle.
The sun shining down like a medal for the gods.
The concrete below me striking by.
The bottom of the road, approaching, approaching.
I felt the wind on my face.
The speed and power made me feel like an ace.
I had not a worry in my soul.
My body felt complete, my body felt whole
Moving through shadow and light.
The light of the day brightening my mind
Did I see it?
Could I sense it, the line coming forth?
How far was it… like ten ft. away from me?
It came closer
And closer
And closer
And closer…
SCREECH…
CRASH…
Thump…

Poet's note: This poem is both an artistic representation of the day I broke my arm as well as a metaphor for growing up and developing depression.
