| I used to adore the simplicities | B |
| But now I fall in love with the impossibilities | B |
| Of understanding what it means to be fully alive | C |
| I loved you when it hurt the most | D |

| Isn t it crazy how people can affect your life so easily | A |
| And how I didn t realize the complexities of my morality | A |
| You listened with your ears and you looked with your eyes | B |
| But I listened and looked with my heart | E |
| We never we re on the same page | F |

| The ubiquitous enjoyment that gave my world colour | G |
| Faded away when you entered my life | H |
| But I can t blame it all on you for simply existing | I |
| I can only blame myself for accepting you | J |
| I just stopped enjoying everything | I |
| Because all I could think about was us | B |

| I guess you were a living embodiment of anhedonia | K |
| A rare occurrence that I wish I never experienced | L |
| You took all the pleasure away from me | A |
| And you didn t even realize it | M |
| Now all the normal things don t spark a flame anymore | G |
| All they do is flicker the lights of my enjoyment | N |

| And God maybe just maybe I m overthinking it | M |
| I really hope I am because I never want to experience it again | K |

Poet's note: This poem embodies Anhedonia as a person in a stereotypical high school relationship. I wanted to illustrate a feeling most fellow high schoolers feel nowadays in this generation. This poem isn't targeted to anyone specific, but simply for a young demographic. This poem means a lot to me, as it seems to be my first serious piece of works.
