The Farm Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFG AHIHJKA LMGNOPQ RASMTUV

My father's farm is an apple blossomerA
He keeps his hills in dandelion carpetB
and weaves a lane of lilacs between the roseC
and the jack in the pulpitsD
His sleek cows ripple in the pasturesE
The dog and purple irisF
keep watch at the garden's endG
-
His farm is rolling thunderA
a lightning bolt on the horizonH
His crops suck rain from the skyI
and swallow the smoldering sunH
His fields are oceans of heatJ
where waves of goldK
beat the burning shoreA
-
A red foxL
pauses under the birch treesM
a shadow is in the river's bendG
When the hawk circles the landN
my father's grainfields whirl beneath itO
Owls gather together to sing in his woodsP
and the deer run his golden meadowQ
-
My father's farm is an icicleR
a hillside of white powderA
He parts the snowy seaS
and smooths away the valleysM
He cultivates his rows of starlightT
and drags the crescent moonU
through dark unfurrowed fieldsV
