Crossroads Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLC MCNOPQRSTU VWXCYZ

The second half of my life will be blackA
to the white rind of the old and fading moonB
The second half of my life will be waterC
over the cracked floor of these desert yearsD
I will land on my feet this timeE
knowing at least two languages and whoF
my friends are I will dress for theG
occasion and my hair shall beH
whatever color I pleaseI
Everyone will go on celebrating the oldJ
birthday counting the years as usualK
but I will count myself new from thisL
inception this imprint of my own desireC
-
The second half of my life will be swiftM
past leaning fenceposts a gravel shoulderC
asphalt tickets the beckon of open roadN
The second half of my life will be wide eyedO
fingers shifting through fine sandsP
arms loose at my sides wandering feetQ
There will be new dreams every nightR
and the drapes will never be closedS
I will toss my string of keys into a deepT
well and old letters into the grateU
-
The second half of my life will be iceV
breaking up on the river rainW
soaking the fields a handX
held out a fireC
and smoke goingY
upward always upZ
