The Visitation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCB ADAEAD

For Louise Imogen GuineyA
-
-
There is a wall of flesh before the eyesB
Of John who yet perceives and hails his KingC
It is Our Lady's painful bliss to bringC
Before mankind the Glory of the skiesB
Her cousin feels her womb's sweet burden riseB
And leap with joy and she comes forth to singC
With trembling mouth her words of welcomingC
She knows her hidden God and prophesiesB
-
Saint John pray for us weary souls that tarryA
Where life is withered by sin's deadly breathD
Pray for us whom the dogs of Satan harryA
Saint John Saint Anne and Saint ElizabethE
And Mother Mary give us Christ to carryA
Within our hearts that we may conquer deathD
