The Annunciation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCB DEDEDE

For Helen Parry EdenA
-
-
Hail Mary full of grace the Angel saithB
Our Lady bows her head and is ashamedC
She has a Bridegroom Who may not be namedC
Her mortal flesh bears Him Who conquers deathB
Now in the dust her spirit grovellethB
Too bright a Sun before her eyes has flamedC
Too fair a herald joy too high proclaimedC
And human lips have trembled in God's breathB
-
O Mother Maid thou art ashamed to coverD
With thy white self whereon no stain can beE
Thy God Who came from Heaven to be thy LoverD
Thy God Who came from Heaven to dwell in theeE
About thy head celestial legions hoverD
Chanting the praise of thy humilityE
