Prayer Of A Soldier In France Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BB CC DD EE FF GG HH

My shoulders ache beneath my packA
Lie easier Cross upon His backA
-
I march with feet that burn and smartB
Tread Holy Feet upon my heartB
-
Men shout at me who may not speakC
They scourged Thy back and smote Thy cheekC
-
I may not lift a hand to clearD
My eyes of salty drops that searD
-
Then shall my fickle soul forgetE
Thy Agony of Bloody SweatE
-
My rifle hand is stiff and numbF
From Thy pierced palm red rivers comeF
-
Lord Thou didst suffer more for meG
Than all the hosts of land and seaG
-
So let me render back againH
This millionth of Thy gift AmenH
