Poets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD

Vain is the chiming of forgotten bellsA
That the wind sways above a ruined shrineB
Vainer his voice in whom no longer dwellsA
Hunger that craves immortal Bread and WineB
-
Light songs we breathe that perish with our breathC
Out of our lips that have not kissed the rodD
They shall not live who have not tasted deathC
They only sing who are struck dumb by GodD
