Madness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGFG HIJI KLKL

For Sara TeasdaleA
-
-
The lonely farm the crowded streetB
The palace and the slumC
Give welcome to my silent feetB
As bearing gifts I comeC
-
Last night a beggar crouched aloneD
A ragged helpless thingE
I set him on a moonbeam throneD
Today he is a kingE
-
Last night a king in orb and crownF
Held court with splendid cheerG
Today he tears his purple gownF
And moans and shrieks in fearG
-
Not iron bars nor flashing spearsH
Not land nor sky nor seaI
Nor love's artillery of tearsJ
Can keep mine own from meI
-
Serene unchanging ever fairK
I smile with secret mirthL
And in a net of mine own hairK
I swing the captive earthL
