Alarm Clocks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDCDCD

When Dawn strides out to wake a dewy farmA
Across green fields and yellow hills of hayB
The little twittering birds laugh in his wayB
And poise triumphant on his shining armA
He bears a sword of flame but not to harmA
The wakened life that feels his quickening swayB
And barnyard voices shrilling It is dayB
Take by his grace a new and alien charmA
-
But in the city like a wounded thingC
That limps to cover from the angry chaseD
He steals down streets where sickly arc lights singC
And wanly mock his young and shameful faceD
And tiny gongs with cruel fervor ringC
In many a high and dreary sleeping placeD
