Ode To A Lady On The Spring Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGH IJIJ KLKL

Lo Spring array'd in primrose colour'd robeA
Fresh beauties sheds on each enliven'd sceneB
With show'rs and sunshine cheers the smiling globeA
And mantles hill and vale in glowing greenB
-
All nature feels her vital heat aroundC
The pregnant glebe now bursts with foodful grainD
With kindly warmth she opes the frozen groundC
And with new life informs the teeming plainD
-
She calls the fish from out their ouzy bedsE
And animates the deep with genial loveF
She bids the herds bound sportive o'er the meadsG
And with glad songs awakes the joyous groveH
-
No more the glaring tiger roams for preyI
All powerful love subdues his savage soulJ
To find his spotted mate he darts awayI
While gentler thoughts the thirst of blood controulJ
-
But ah while all is warmth and soft desireK
While all around Spring's cheerful spirit ownL
You feel not Amoret her quickening fireK
To Spring's kind influence you a foe aloneL
