The Vision Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEB FGFGFG HIJIHK FAFAFA LMLMLG NOPONO QRQRQR

I SAW but once that lovely oneA
Nor need I see her twice to loveB
She broke upon me like the dawnC
And o'er my soul her magic woveD
Yea forced the lion stern to ownE
Himself the captive of the doveB
-
She brought the morn she left the nightF
Nor strove I to throw off the chainG
But rather felt a sweet delightF
To intermingle with the painG
That made my heart's repose a blightF
Till madness ruled my thought's domainG
-
By night I sought a solitudeH
And gave unto the winds a griefI
That struggled like the lava floodJ
That boils and struggles for reliefI
And night still left me in a moodH
Unto the voice of reason deafK
-
The radiant planets in their flightF
And she the quiet Queen of heavenA
With glory garmented the nightF
But not to them the power was givenA
To kill but rather nurse the blightF
By which afar my peace was drivenA
-
Yet wished I not the sun to riseL
For then the world were up and thenM
Were I exposed to wistful eyesL
And questions bold of forward menM
Who deem themselves both good and wiseL
Yet neither know nor pity painG
-
And what on earth ay what in hellN
Can be more racking to the thoughtO
Than that our pangs unspeakableP
Should disregarded be as noughtO
Or look's upon with looks that tellN
In vain would sympathy be soughtO
-
The magic vision fled and soQ
Have all those precious feelings allR
Which gave to life a golden glowQ
Which made a joy this earthly ballR
And now what's left to me what ohQ
What but a cup of very gallR
