The Violet And The Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DE FG HIHI

THE Violet invited my kissA
I kiss'd it and called it my brideB
'Was ever one slighted like this 'C
Sighed the Rose as it stood by my sideB
-
My heart ever open to griefD
To comfort the fair one I turnedE
'Of fickle ones thou art the chief '-
Frown'd the Violet and pouted andF
mournedG
-
Then to end all disputes I entwinedH
The love striken blossoms in oneI
But that instant their beauty declinedH
And I wept for the deed I had doneI
