I MIGHT have wish's it otherwiseA
But yet poor heart tho' they were cruelB
Those thunder clouds above her eyesA
They very much became the jewelB

Hope fled but Truth remains and ownsC
What yet this fond heart half beguilethD
'One knows the worst on't when she frownsE
But never when the syren smileth '-
