The Lad Of Bebside Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAA BBAA CCAA DDAA EEAA

My heart is away with the lad of BebsideA
And never can I to another be tiedA
Not not to be titled a lord's wedded brideA
Could Jinny abandon the lad of BebsideA
-
He dances so clever he whistles so fineB
He's flattered and wooed from the Blyth to the TyneB
Yet spite of the proffers he meets far and wideA
I'm alone the beloved of the lad of BedsideA
-
He entered our door on the eve of the FairC
And cracked with our folk in a manner so rareC
Next morning right early with spleen I was eyedA
To link to the Fair with the lad of BebsideA
-
Last night at the dancing 'mid scores of fine queansD
The eldest among them just out of her teensD
He chose me and truly with pleasure and prideA
I footed the jig with the lad of BebsideA
-
To wed me he's promised and who can believeE
A laddie like him can a lassie deceiveE
The moon's on the wane ere another be spiedA
I'll lie in the arms of the lad of BebsideA
