Mary Of Crofton Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD CECE ACAC

AH a lovely jewel was Mary of CroftonA
And now she is cold in the clayB
We think of the heart cheering image as oftenA
As we pass down the old waggon wayB
-
Her air was a magical air and the veryC
Stone heart of the stoic entrancedD
While her wee wee feet beat a measure as merryC
As ever by damsel was dancedD
-
Her accents enchanted her lay but the sillyC
Bit linnet to vie it would seekE
And the rose in her hair was a daffadowndillyC
Compared with the rose on her cheekE
-
Sue Bessy and Kitty still ornament CroftonA
And rich are the charms they displayC
But we miss the sweet image of Mary as oftenA
As we pass down the old waggon wayC
