| sung by grandma on Christmas eve | B |
| It wasn't in good stanzas long | A |
| but it did the joyous times retrieve | B |
| It gladdened my heart which did grieve | B |
| over all I thought I'd done wrong | A |
| and could not annually achieve | B |
| It did convey emotions strong | A |
| of joyous moments to relive | C |
| Modest gifts traditional meals | D |
| and the sweet scent of warmth that heals | D |
| Contented in want we all shared | E |
| whilst our affections showed we cared | E |
| All on our humble home converged | F |
| in living rooms hardly enlarged | G |
| To drink and eat cheap wine and food | H |
| in unrivaled ecstasy and mood | H |
