It wasn't in good stanzas long | A |
but it did the joyous times retrieve | B |
It gladdened my heart which did grieve | B |
over all I thought I'd done wrong | A |
and could not annually achieve | B |
It did convey emotions strong | A |
of joyous moments to relive | C |
Modest gifts traditional meals | D |
and the sweet scent of warmth that heals | D |
Contented in want we all shared | E |
whilst our affections showed we cared | E |
All on our humble home converged | F |
in living rooms hardly enlarged | G |
To drink and eat cheap wine and food | H |
in unrivaled ecstasy and mood | H |
