Jesus Christ Our Saviour Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EFGG HHCC

My Lord the good shepherd and fortress of hopeA
I gladly rest within thy Calvary's scopeA
Where ills death torment are never endemicB
in a world where strife is largely systemicB
-
Satan's forces can never with thee contendC
As they tirelessly try my soul to rendC
For in thy hands Lord I deliver my allD
let not the enemy gloat over my fallD
-
Hide me Lord from the ravenous devil's snareE
Through stalking passions he tries to draw me nearF
to hell's dreary coast of unquenchable fireG
Keep me from the deceit of this age old liarG
-
When I achieve eternity's sinless goalH
Lord to thee I will commend my precious soulH
Guarantee my safe passage to heaven's gateC
A celestial realm that is devoid of hateC
