25th December, 0ce Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABCCCB DDDEEEE

Behold the Christ child is born this dayA
just as the prophets of old did sayA
In a manger on the cozy hayA
did his infant Lordship choose to stayA
No cradle by a thousand kings paidB
for would befit his divine highnessC
whose crown is celestial and pricelessC
glowing with gems of regal brightnessC
Yet in a manger so low he laidB
-
Behold the Christ child God's timeless giftD
who will from sin's merciless bondage liftD
men to heights from where they went adriftD
from God's intended realm in EdenE
His birth in yuletide our lives sweetenE
with lit golden marbles to lightenE
dark alleys which were once stress riddenE
