| A suffering one afflicted from his birth | A |
| The limb was healed as by divine command | B |
| But He felt weak for strength from Him had gone | C |
| A sacrifice which love could not withhold | D |
| So he sought shelter till the morning dawn | C |
| But none received they prized not love but gold | D |

| Then 'neath a rose bush did the angel lie | E |
| And rested well until the break of day | F |
| When much refreshed he sought his home on high | E |
| But ere he started on his upward way | F |
| He said to sheltering rose in loving voice | G |
| What man refused thou hast afforded me | H |
| What is thy wish Make known to me thy choice | G |
| The God of love and power will grant it thee | H |
