Gladly would I all erase | D |
But along the lines of blue | E |
You could still the failure trace | D |
In the paper's darkened hue | E |
Though the words could not be seen | B |
You could trace where they had been | F |
- | |
I will try to do my best | G |
Though my ideal be not gained | H |
On the Master's scrip shall rest | G |
Eager eyes till is attained | H |
Some resemblance to His hand | I |
If no more I can command | I |
- | |
Like my life this written sheet | J |
So unlike the pattern given | K |
Crooked strokes I oft repeat | J |
Oh that from it could be riven | K |
All the blurs and blots of sin | F |
All the self that's found within | F |
- | |
I can not the past erase | D |
Christ shall blot the crooked out | L |
Leaving not the slightest trace | D |
Of my sin the lines about | L |
And will give me grace to write | M |
Pages pleasing in His sight | M |
- | |
I will try to do my best | G |
As He gives me strength and light | M |
Leaving with Him all the rest | G |
He will keep life's pages white | M |
And the copy shall be shown | N |
Perfected before His throne | N |
