Salut Aux Blessis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIJKLJL MNONPQRQ

A group of mounted officersA
Ride up and fall in lineB
Their gleaming swords hang at their sidesC
Chevrons their arms entwineB
They bare their heads as pass alongD
A train of wounded menE
Their shattered comrades from the fieldF
They ne'er may meet againE
-
Salut aux Blessis loud they cryG
The wounded soldiers hearH
And for a time forget their painI
And swell the lusty cheerJ
Thus should it be in other linesK
The men who lead the vanL
Should e'er accord a brother's cheerJ
To every wounded manL
-
The rank and file the wounds receiveM
Sometimes the leader tooN
But honest wounds none should despiseO
The bearer may be trueN
He stood his ground 'gainst mighty oddsP
And dared the shot and shellQ
So bare your heads ye scarless onesR
And say Thou hast done wellQ
