We do not sing of vast domain | B |
Empires as vast as ours are seen | C |
And o'er their millions despots reign | B |
We sing the virtues of our Queen | C |
- | |
We think of her when but a maid | D |
The message came the King is dead | E |
And at her feet a crown was laid | D |
In deep distress of mind she said | E |
- | |
In my behalf I ask your prayers | F |
Then falling on her knees to pray | G |
She told the Lord her fears and cares | F |
And sought from Him strength for her day | G |
- | |
He seemed to say Child do not fear | H |
I will uphold thee with my hand | I |
And I will make thy pathway clear | H |
Thy throne establish in the land | I |
- | |
'Twas thus began Victoria's reign | B |
And God has made her throne secure | J |
Her enemies will plot in vain | B |
For it is destined to endure | J |
- | |
But while she sits on regal throne | K |
And acts full well a regal part | L |
She reigns not on the throne alone | K |
She reigns to day in England's heart | L |
- | |
Her queenly heart with pity throbs | F |
For every suffering subject's woes | F |
In lowly cot 'midst groans and sobs | F |
She like a ray of sunshine goes | F |
- | |
As sweet perfume by outward gale | M |
Is carried far o'er sea and land | I |
So queenly virtues never fail | M |
To touch true hearts on every strand | I |
- | |
In every land her name is blest | N |
She is beloved by old and young | O |
From pole to pole from east to west | N |
The song God save the Queen is sung | O |
- | |
Through sorrows deep her path has led | E |
And tender ties have sundered been | P |
Bright hopes were buried with her dead | E |
And love has kept their memory green | C |
- | |
By grief secluded from the world | Q |
Her path through lonely years she trod | R |
And oft her life has been imperilled | R |
But she has leaned upon her God | R |
- | |
And as she wept a nation's tears | F |
In heartfelt sympathy were shed | R |
Forgetting their own griefs and biers | F |
They wept beside the royal dead | R |
- | |
With grateful hearts her natal day | R |
We loyal Britons hail again | S |
And join with millions as they pray | R |
God bless our Queen Long may she reign | B |
- | |
And when at last life's glories fade | R |
And robes of state are laid aside | R |
When nature's debt to dust is paid | R |
And charms no more earth's pomp and pride | R |
- | |
May angel bands her spirit bear | T |
Up to the palace of her King | U |
Where she a fadeless crown shall wear | T |
And the new song with rapture sing | U |
