Oil The Cricket Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FCFA GHGH ADCD

Mamma what noises do I hearA
They keep me wide awakeB
The chirping crickets little dearC
What funny noise they makeB
-
Yes ma but touch their tongues with oilD
To take the squeak awayE
For soon it will their voices spoilD
To squeak thus night and dayE
-
Well done my little girl of threeF
'Twould tune our speaking gearC
To utter sweeter melodyF
For your attentive earA
-
If it were oiled a little tooG
For harsh too oft its tonesH
Though formed to thrill with pleasure trueG
It gives forth shrieks and groansH
-
Which fall discordant on the earA
And budding pleasures spoilD
And speaking gear likewise I fearC
So bring along the oilD
