Niagara's Rainbow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF CGCGHH GIGIJJ KDKDLL

Upon the table rock I standA
And gaze into the depths profoundB
In ecstacy at sights so grandA
And deafened by the soundB
Of rushing waters as they leapC
Like maddened steeds down hillside steepC
-
The falling spray my head bedewsD
As gently as a vernal showerE
Or as the Holy Ghost imbuesD
In consecrated hourE
The soul that inly yearns for loveF
And seeks it from the throne aboveF
-
But I see more than chasm deepC
Than falling spray and rushing tideG
Sublime indeed the awful leapC
The awe will long abideG
God's rainbow hangs in colors brightH
A thing of beauty in my sightH
-
Our cousins on the other sideG
And we too often disagreeI
Puffed up I fear at times with prideG
Each strong and brave and freeI
But we forget the stormy pastJ
Our lands and hearts are linked at lastJ
-
The Union Jack hangs o'er my headK
The Stars and Stripes my cousin rearsD
But old time grievances are deadK
For all the coming yearsD
As separate flags they still may waveL
But we are one the world to saveL
