Love Better Than Knowledge Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JHJFEE

O Thou Eternal One look downA
Upon an erring child of earthB
Thy handiwork with knowledge crownA
Or life will seem of little worthB
By Thine own light illume my wayC
And turn this darkness into dayC
-
I hear a whisper in my heartD
Than knowledge better far is loveE
Thy knowledge here is but in partD
The perfect waits for Thee aboveE
Walk now by faith and leave to meF
The things now wrap'd in mysteryF
-
Weighed down with mysteries profoundG
I lean upon Thy loving breastH
The great unknown still girts me roundG
But Thou art mine and here I restH
Unsolved the mysteries remainI
But they no longer give me painI
-
My finite mind may never graspJ
The thought of Thy immensityH
But I Thy hand more firmly claspJ
To feel Thee near suffices meF
For Thou art knowledge power and loveE
The same in earth and heaven aboveE
