Brotherhood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH HIHIHHHH| Is brotherhood to flesh confined | A |
| Is there no kinship of the soul | B |
| To have it thus I am resigned | A |
| If 'tis my God appointed goal | B |
| For there are those whom I hold dear | C |
| Who claim with me a common sire | D |
| That we with one accord revere | C |
| And love holds out midst flood and fire | D |
| - | |
| But is the family so small | E |
| Of which I fondly claim a part | F |
| Is there no other I may call | E |
| A brother and within my heart | F |
| Cherish for him whate'er his name | G |
| Or rank or color or his creed | H |
| A love of pure and changeless flame | G |
| And feel I render but his meed | H |
| - | |
| Thank God for brotherhood so broad | H |
| That all the human race may share | I |
| A kinship never yet outlawed | H |
| Tho' types of it have been too rare | I |
| But bigotry is doomed to die | H |
| And hate a relic of the past | H |
| The golden age is drawing nigh | H |
| And all one family at last | H |
