Aspiration Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH

I stand to day on higher groundA
Than ever reached beforeB
Yet from this summit I have foundA
Outlined full many moreB
Which seem to pierce the vaulted skyC
And prove my effort vainD
But God will set my feet on highC
Thro' grace I shall attainD
-
Yet higher still my ideal standsE
Its peak but dimly seenF
But hope impels and love commandsE
And faith discerns its sheenF
And when I reach its shining heightG
Heaven's gate will open wideH
I'll see the beatific sightG
And rest at Jesus' sideH
