I know in part but know not allA
The part I know is knownB
What know I not I hope with PaulA
To know before the throneB
Till then where knowledge fails I trustC
The truth God has revealedD
As known by me forever mustC
Be like the truth concealedD
-
I know God is tho' hid from sightE
And know He cares for meF
In blessing me He takes delightE
And I by faith can seeF
His skilful hand and loving heartG
In all my life's affairsH
And feel content to know but partG
If He knows all my caresH
-
I know God gave His Son to dieI
A sacrifice for manJ
And live all who on Him relyI
And meet His claims I canJ
Yet I know not how in Him meetK
The human and divineL
But God He is and at His feetK
I fall and feel Him mineL
-
Nor do I understand the changeM
The spirit wrought in meF
A work so great exceeds my rangeM
But I can feel and seeF
The inward peace and outward trendN
And hear likewise His voiceO
The outward with the inward blendN
And answer to my choiceO
-
I know not how mind touches mindP
And thoughts spring into lifeQ
Nor know the mystic bands which bindP
Like husband to the wifeQ
My loving Lord and my poor soulR
But this I know full wellS
If I submit to His controlR
I cannot sink to hellS
-
I know the world shakes to its baseT
And man still wars with manJ
The bane of sin rests on our raceT
And Satan leads the vanJ
But hope exults within my breastU
Tho 'darkness shrouds the skyI
God is the friend of the oppressedU
The good will never dieI
-
I know not why my plans should failV
When I have plan'd for GodW
And on this ground my foes assailV
But I still kiss the rodW
For tho' I cannot tell the whyI
My heart is filled with peaceX
I can on my dear Lord relyI
And wait for my releaseX
-
I know He is both true and kindP
And has my good at heartG
His discipline will only bindP
With cords which naught can partG
My heart's affections to His throneB
And fit me for my restU
Nor do I tread life's path aloneB
He knows and I am blestU
