To The Hummingbird Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABAB CCCDCD EEEFEF BBBGBG

I cannot heal thy green gold breastA
Where deep those cruel teeth have prestA
Nor bid thee raise thy ruffled crestA
And seek thy mateB
Who sits alone within thy nestA
Nor sees thy fateB
-
No more with him in summer hoursC
Thou'lt hum amid the leafy bowersC
Nor hover round the dewy flowersC
To feed thy youngD
Nor seek when evening darkly lowersC
Thy nest high hungD
-
No more thou'lt know a mother's careE
Thy honied spoils at eve to shareE
Nor teach thy tender brood to dareE
With upward springF
Their path through fields of sunny airE
On new fledged wingF
-
For thy return in vain shall waitB
Thy tender young thy fond fond mateB
Till night's last stars beam forth full lateB
On their sad eyesG
Unknown alas thy cruel fateB
Unheard thy criesG
