The War Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGFHH| I saw a war yet none the trumpet blew | A |
| Nor in their hands the steel wrought weapons bare | B |
| And in that conflict armed there fought but few | A |
| And none that in the world's loud tumults share | B |
| They fought against their wills the stubborn foe | C |
| That mail clad warriors left unfought within | D |
| And wordy champions left unslain below | C |
| The ravening wolf though drest in fleecy skin | D |
| They fought for peace not that the world can give | E |
| Whose tongue proclaims the war its hands have ceased | F |
| And bids us as each other's neighbor live | G |
| Ere haughty Self within us has deceased | F |
| They fought for him whose kingdom must increase | H |
| Good will to men on earth forever peace | H |
