The Tree Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDECECFFI love thee when thy swelling buds appear | A |
And one by one their tender leaves unfold | B |
As if they knew that warmer suns were near | A |
Nor longer sought to hide from winter's cold | B |
And when with darker growth thy leaves are seen | C |
To veil from view the early robin's nest | D |
I love to lie beneath thy waving skreen | C |
With limbs by summer's heat and toil opprest | D |
And when the autumn winds have stript thee bare | E |
And round thee lies the smooth untrodden snow | C |
When nought is thine that made thee once so fair | E |
I love to watch thy shadowy form below | C |
And through thy leafless arms to look above | F |
On stars that brighter beam when most we need their love | F |
