The Son Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGGFather I wait thy word The sun doth stand | A |
Beneath the mingling line of night and day | B |
A listening servant waiting thy command | A |
To roll rejoicing on its silent way | B |
The tongue of time abides the appointed hour | C |
Till on our ear its silent warnings fall | D |
The heavy cloud withholds the pelting shower | C |
Then every drop speeds onward at thy call | D |
The bird reposes on the yielding bough | E |
With breast unswollen by the tide of song | F |
So does my spirit wait thy presence now | E |
To pour thy praise in quickening life along | F |
Chiding with voice divine man s lengthened sleep | G |
While round the Unuttered Word and Love their vigils keep | G |
