The Morning Watch Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGHI

'Tis near the morning watch the dim lamp burnsA
But scarcely shows how dark the slumbering streetB
No sound of life the silent mart returnsA
No friends from house to house their neighbors greetB
It is the sleep of death a deeper sleepC
Than e'er before on mortal eyelids fellD
No stars above the gloom their places keepC
No faithful watchmen of the morning tellD
Yet still they slumber on though rising dayE
Hath through their windows poured the awakening lightF
Or turning in their sluggard trances sayE
'There yet are many hours to fill the night 'G
They rise not yet while on the bridegroom goesH
'Till he the day's bright gates forever on them closeI
