The Heart Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG

There is a cup of sweet or bitter drinkA
Whose waters ever o'er the brim must wellB
Whence flow pure thoughts of love as angels thinkA
Or of its d mon depths the tongue will tellB
That cup can ne'er be cleansed from outward stainsC
While from within the tide forever flowsD
And soon it wearies out the fruitless painsC
The treacherous hand on such a task bestowsD
But ever bright its chrystal sides appearE
While runs the current from its outlet pureF
And pilgrims hail its sparkling waters nearE
And stoop to drink the healing fountain sureF
And bless the cup that cheers their fainting soulG
While through this parching waste they seek their heavenly goalG
