The Gifts Of God Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH

THE LIGHT that fills thy house at mornA
Thou canst not for thyself retainB
But all who with thee here are bornA
It bids to share an equal gainB
-
The wind that blows thy ship alongC
Her swelling sails cannot confineD
Alike to all the gales belongC
Nor canst thou claim a breath as thineD
-
The earth the green out spreading earthE
Why hast thou fenced it off from meF
Hadst thou than I a nobler birthE
Who callest thine a gift so freeF
-
The wave the blue encircling waveG
No chains can bind no fetters holdH
Its thunders tell of Him who gaveG
What none can ever buy for goldH
