The Clay Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGH

Thou shalt do what Thou wilt with thine own handA
Thou form'st the spirit like the moulded clayB
For those who love Thee keep thy just commandA
And in thine image grow as they obeyB
New tints and forms with every hour they takeC
Whose life is fashioned by thy spirit's powerD
The crimson dawn is round them when they wakeC
And golden triumphs wait the evening hourD
The queenly sceptred night their souls receivesE
And spreads their pillows 'neath her sable tentF
Above them Sleep their palm with poppy weavesE
Sweet rest Thou hast to all who labor lentF
That they may rise refreshed to light againG
And with Thee gather in the whitening grainH
