The Clay Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGH| Thou shalt do what Thou wilt with thine own hand | A |
| Thou form'st the spirit like the moulded clay | B |
| For those who love Thee keep thy just command | A |
| And in thine image grow as they obey | B |
| New tints and forms with every hour they take | C |
| Whose life is fashioned by thy spirit's power | D |
| The crimson dawn is round them when they wake | C |
| And golden triumphs wait the evening hour | D |
| The queenly sceptred night their souls receives | E |
| And spreads their pillows 'neath her sable tent | F |
| Above them Sleep their palm with poppy weaves | E |
| Sweet rest Thou hast to all who labor lent | F |
| That they may rise refreshed to light again | G |
| And with Thee gather in the whitening grain | H |
