The Clay Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHThou shalt do what Thou wilt with thine own hand | A |
Thou form'st the spirit like the moulded clay | B |
For those who love Thee keep thy just command | A |
And in thine image grow as they obey | B |
New tints and forms with every hour they take | C |
Whose life is fashioned by thy spirit's power | D |
The crimson dawn is round them when they wake | C |
And golden triumphs wait the evening hour | D |
The queenly sceptred night their souls receives | E |
And spreads their pillows 'neath her sable tent | F |
Above them Sleep their palm with poppy weaves | E |
Sweet rest Thou hast to all who labor lent | F |
That they may rise refreshed to light again | G |
And with Thee gather in the whitening grain | H |
