Soul-sickness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGGHow many of the body's health complain | A |
When they some deeper malady conceal | B |
Some unrest of the soul some secret pain | A |
Which thus its presence doth to them reveal | B |
Vain would we seek by the physician's aid | C |
A name for this soul sickness e'er to find | D |
A remedy for health and strength decayed | C |
Whose cause and cure are wholly of the mind | D |
To higher nature is the soul allied | E |
And restless seeks its being's Source to know | F |
Finding not health nor strength in aught beside | E |
How often vainly sought in things below | F |
Whether in sunny clime or sacred stream | G |
Or plant of wondrous powers of which we dream | G |
