Psyche Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI JKLK

I SAW a worm with many a foldA
It spun itself a sliken tombB
And there in winter time enrolledA
It heeded not the cold or gloomB
-
Within a small snug nook it layC
Nor snow nor sleet could reach it thereD
Nor wind was felt in gusty dayC
Nor biting cold of frosty airD
-
Spring comes with bursting buds and grassE
Around him stirs a warmer breezeF
The chirping insects by him passE
His hiding place not yet he leavesG
-
But summer came its fervid breathH
Was felt within the sleeper's cellI
And waking from his sleep of deathH
I saw him crawl from out his shellI
-
Slow and with pain he first moved onJ
And of the day he seemed to beK
A day passed by the worm was goneL
It soared on golden pinions freeK
