On Another Window[1] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCCCDDEE

A bard on whom Phoebus his spirit bestow'dA
Resolving t'acknowledge the bounty he owedA
Found out a new method at once of confessingB
And making the most of so mighty a blessingB
To the God he'd be grateful but mortals he'd chouseC
By making his patron preside in his houseC
And wisely foresaw this advantage from thenceC
That the God would in honour bear most of th'expenseC
So the bard he finds drink and leaves Phoebus to treatD
With the thoughts he inspires regardless of meatD
Hence they that come hither expecting to dineE
Are always fobb'd off with sheer wit and sheer wineE
