Ode On Science Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABAAB AACAAC DDEFFE EEAAAA GGHAAH IIAEEA EEJKKJ LLIEEI

O heavenly born in deepest dellsA
If fairest science ever dwellsA
Beneath the mossy caveB
Indulge the verdure of the woodsA
With azure beauty gild the floodsA
And flowery carpets laveB
-
For Melancholy ever reignsA
Delighted in the sylvan scenesA
With scientific lightC
While Dian huntress of the valesA
Seeks lulling sounds and fanning galesA
Though wrapt from mortal sightC
-
Yet goddess yet the way exploreD
With magic rites and heathen loreD
Obstructed and depress'dE
Till Wisdom give the sacred NineF
Untaught not uninspired to shineF
By Reason's power redress'dE
-
When Solon and Lycurgus taughtE
To moralize the human thoughtE
Of mad opinion's mazeA
To erring zeal they gave new lawsA
Thy charms O Liberty the causeA
That blends congenial raysA
-
Bid bright Astr a gild the mornG
Or bid a hundred suns be bornG
To hecatomb the yearH
Without thy aid in vain the polesA
In vain the zodiac system rollsA
In vain the lunar sphereH
-
Come fairest princess of the throngI
Bring sweet philosophy alongI
In metaphysic dreamsA
While raptured bards no more beholdE
A vernal age of purer goldE
In Heliconian streamsA
-
Drive Thraldom with malignant handE
To curse some other destined landE
By Folly led astrayJ
I rne bear on azure wingK
Energic let her soar and singK
Thy universal swayJ
-
So when Amphion bade the lyreL
To more majestic sound aspireL
Behold the madding throngI
In wonder and oblivion drown'dE
To sculpture turn'd by magic soundE
And petrifying songI
