Drapier's-hill.[1] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIIEE

We give the world to understandA
Our thriving Dean has purchased landA
A purchase which will bring him clearB
Above his rent four pounds a yearB
Provided to improve the groundC
He will but add two hundred poundC
And from his endless hoarded storeD
To build a house five hundred moreD
Sir Arthur too shall have his willE
And call the mansion Drapier's HillE
That when a nation long enslavedF
Forgets by whom it once was savedF
When none the Drapier's praise shall singG
His signs aloft no longer swingG
His medals and his prints forgottenH
And all his handkerchiefs are rottenH
His famous letters made waste paperI
This hill may keep the name of DrapierI
In spite of envy flourish stillE
And Drapier's vie with Cooper's HillE
