A Ballad On The Game Of Traffic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDC EFEF GEHE EEEE EIEI JAJK LMLM

WRITTEN AT THE CASTLE OF DUBLINA
-
-
My Lord to find out who must dealB
Delivers cards aboutC
But the first knave does seldom failD
To find the doctor outC
-
But then his honour cried GadzooksE
And seem'd to knit his browF
For on a knave he never looksE
But he thinks upon Jack HowF
-
My lady though she is no playerG
Some bungling partner takesE
And wedged in corner of a chairH
Takes snuff and holds the stakesE
-
Dame Floyd looks out in grave suspenseE
For pair royals and sequentsE
But wisely cautious of her penceE
The castle seldom frequentsE
-
Quoth Herries fairly putting casesE
I'd won it on my wordI
If I had but a pair of acesE
And could pick up a thirdI
-
But Weston has a new cast gownJ
On Sundays to be fine inA
And if she can but win a crownJ
'Twill just new dye the liningK
-
With these is Parson SwiftL
Not knowing how to spend his timeM
Does make a wretched shiftL
To deafen them with puns and rhymeM
