Weeping Mary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FEFEEGEG EHEHIEIE JEFEEKEK

Mary to her Saviour's tombA
Hasted at the early dawnB
Spice she brought and sweet perfumeA
But the Lord The loved was goneB
For awhile she weeping stoodC
Struck with sorrow and surpriseD
Shedding tears a plenteous floodE
For her heart supplied her eyesD
-
Jesus who is always nearF
Though too often unperceivedE
Came his drooping child to cheerF
And enquired Why she grievedE
Though at first she knew him notE
When he called her by her nameG
Then her griefs were all forgotE
For she found he was the sameG
-
Grief and sighing quickly fledE
When she heard his welcome voiceH
Just before she thought him deadE
Now he bids her heart rejoiceH
What a change his word can makeI
Turning darkness into dayE
You who weep for Jesus' sakeI
He will wipe your tears awayE
-
He who came to comfort herJ
When she thought her all was lostE
Will for your relief appearF
Though you now are tempest tossedE
On his word your burden castE
On his love your thoughts employK
Weeping for awhile may lastE
But the morning brings the joyK
