Walking With God Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIJI KLKL MMMM NONO

By faith in Christ I walk with GodA
With heav'n my journeys' end in viewB
Supported by his staff and rodA
My road is safe and pleasant tooB
-
I travel through a desert wideC
Where many round me blindly strayD
But He vouchsafes to be my guideC
And will not let me miss my wayD
-
Though snares and dangers throng my pathE
And earth and hell my course withstandF
I triumph over all by faithG
Guarded by his Almighty handF
-
The wilderness affords no foodH
But God for my support preparesI
Provides me every needful goodJ
And frees my soul from wants and caresI
-
With him sweet converse I maintainK
Great as he is I dare be freeL
I tell him all my grief and painK
And he reveals his love to meL
-
Some cordial from his word he bringsM
Whene'er my feeble spirit faintsM
At once my soul revives and singsM
And yields no more to sad complaintsM
-
I pity all that worldlings talkN
Of pleasures that will quickly endO
Be this my choice O Lord to walkN
With thee my Guide my Guard my FriendO
