Trust Of The Wicked, And The Righteous Compared Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI JBJB KLKL MNMN

As parched in the barren sandsA
Beneath a burning skyB
The worthless bramble with'ring standsA
And only grows to dieB
-
Such is the sinner's aweful caseC
Who makes the world his trustD
And dares his confidence to placeC
In vanity and dustD
-
A secret curse destroys his rootE
And dries his moisture upF
He lives awhile but bears no fruitE
Then dies without a hopeG
-
But happy he whose hopes dependH
Upon the Lord aloneI
The soul that trusts in such a friendH
Can ne'er be overthrownI
-
Though gourds should wither cisterns breakJ
And creature comforts dieB
No change his solid hope can shakeJ
Or stop his sure supplyB
-
So thrives and blooms the tree whose rootsK
By constant streams are fedL
Arrayed in green and rich in fruitsK
It rears its branching headL
-
It thrives though rain should be deniedM
And drought around prevailN
'Tis planted by a river's sideM
Whose waters cannot failN
