Time How Swift Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGHIHI JKLKMNMN

While with ceaseless course the sunA
Hasted through the former yearB
Many souls their race have runA
Never more to meet us hereC
Fixed in an eternal fateD
They have done with all belowE
We a little longer waitD
But how little none can knowE
-
As the winged arrow fliesF
Speedily the mark to findG
As the lightning from the skiesF
Darts and leaves no trace behindG
Swiftly thus our fleeting daysH
Bear us down life's rapid streamI
Upward Lord our spirits raiseH
All below is but a dreamI
-
Thanks for mercies past receiveJ
Pardon of our sins renewK
Teach us henceforth how to liveL
With eternity in viewK
Bless Thy Word to young and oldM
Fill us with a Saviour's loveN
And when life's short tale is toldM
May we dwell with Thee aboveN
