They Shall Be Mine, Saith The Lord Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGHG IJIJ FKFL MNMN

When sinners utter boasting wordsA
And glory in their shameB
The Lord well pleased an ear affordsC
To those who fear his nameB
-
They often meet to seek his faceD
And what they do or sayE
Is noted in his book of graceD
Against another dayE
-
For they by faith a day descryF
And joyfully expectG
When he descending from the skyH
His jewels will collectG
-
Unnoticed now because unknownI
A poor and suff'ring fewJ
He comes to claim them for his ownI
And bring them forth to viewJ
-
With transport then their Saviour's careF
And favour they shall proveK
As tender parents guard and spareF
The children of their loveL
-
Assembled worlds will then discernM
The saints alone are blestN
When wrath shall like an oven burnM
And vengeance strike the restN
