See Aaron God's anointed priestA
Within the veil appearB
In robes of mystic meaning dressedC
Presenting Israel's prayerD
-
The plate of gold which crowns his browsE
His holiness describesF
His breast displays in shining rowsG
The names of all the tribesF
-
With the atoning blood he standsH
Before the mercy seatI
And clouds of incense from his handsH
Arise with odor sweetI
-
Urim and Thummim near his heartJ
In rich engravings wornK
The sacred light of truth impartJ
To teach and to adornK
-
Through him the eye of faith descriesH
A greater Priest than heL
Thus Jesus pleads above the skiesH
For you my friends and meL
-
He bears the names of all his saintsH
Deep on his heart engravedM
Attentive to the state and wantsH
Of all his love has savedM
-
In him a holiness completeI
Light and perfections shineN
And wisdom grace and glory meetI
A Saviour all divineN
-
The blood which as a Priest he bearsH
For sinners is his ownO
The incense of his prayers and tearsH
Perfume the holy throneO
-
In him my weary soul has restC
Though I am weak and vileP
I read my name upon his breastC
And see the Father smileP
